Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m Danielle and I currently reside in Cedar Falls, IA. I have a degree in Anthropology and am currently taking pre-requisites at the University of Iowa for Library Science. I like to read, listen to music, cook and travel.

Q: When did you first become interested in politics?

I’ve always been interested in politics and have kept up with most of it for a while, but I’d say it wasn’t until President Obama’s first election that I got totally engaged.

Q: Why did you decide to join PTP?

I joined PTP because I feel that this election is very important and crucial, so I wanted to be more involved and engage with my community members on the importance of voting.

Q: How have your past experiences helped prepare you as a Field Rep?

While living in Brazil and Jordan where I was volunteering, I had to talk to a lot of people from different cultures and backgrounds about issues of community awareness and community engagement. These experiences taught me important communication skills that have proved helpful when talking to members of my local community about voting.

Q: What is the best tactic that you use to get someone to commit to vote?

The best advice that I’ve used to get someone to commit to vote came from the show Gilmore Girls: “Life’s short. Talk fast.”

Q: What was the most memorable encounter you’ve had with someone while working as a field rep?

A lot of the people that I have talked to have been really encouraging and supportive. I was invited to stay for lunch by one woman and was even invited back to her house for a community BBQ dinner that they have once a week on their street, which was very heartwarming.

Q: What’s the one thing you can’t live without?

Coffee.
