Progressive Turnout Project is committing $1.2 million to rally Democrats to vote for Judge Susan Crawford in the critical April 1st Wisconsin Supreme Court election. The grassroots-funded organization is driving Democratic voter turnout through a large-scale field program that currently has 226 paid team members and is on pace to knock at least 197,140 doors. Additionally, the group has engaged 8,787 volunteers who are hand-writing more than 1.1 million postcards to reinforce the on-the-ground effort.
“Billionaires like Elon Musk are undermining hardworking Americans by attempting to seize control of our government and gut critical programs like Medicare and Medicaid,” said PTP President Alex Morgan. “They’ve already taken over the White House, and now they’re trying to rig the Wisconsin Supreme Court to tip the scales of justice in favor of big corporations at the expense of working people.”
PTP specializes in engaging inconsistent Democratic voters—those who are likely to support Democratic candidates but less likely to turn out. The organization focuses on areas that might be overlooked by candidates and other groups. In similar efforts in 2022 and 2024, roughly two-thirds of the Democratic households reached by PTP in Wisconsin had not been contacted by any other Democratic organization.
Given the wide geographic reach of the program, activists are remotely recruited and onboarded, receiving materials such as door hangers in the mail. Assignments are managed through a sophisticated mapping tool that allows for precise targeting of priority communities.
“Voters are increasingly skipping or tuning out TV and digital ads, so the best thing we can do is go directly to their doorsteps and have real conversations,” added Morgan. “This is the most effective field program in politics today, and we believe it represents the future of field organizing, and it’s going to make a huge difference in rallying Democrats to vote in this election.”
In addition to door knocking, PTP has invested in recruiting volunteers to write 1.1 million postcards and is funding the Operation Swing State initiative to dispatch even more volunteers to knock doors across the state.
The stakes in this election are enormous, as the outcome will shape the balance of the Wisconsin Supreme Court for years to come, impacting key issues such as abortion rights, workers’ rights, and much more. PTP is committed to rallying Democratic voters to ensure the voices of hardworking Wisconsinites are heard in this pivotal election.
